Oliver Blunt QC is a renowned and leading Queen’s Counsel / Silk at Furnival Chambers in the field of ‘criminal law’ with particular emphasis on fraud and regulatory matters having represented a variety of different clients both individuals and businesses especially regulatory bodies such as the British Boxing Board of Control.

Oliver is revered and admired for his phenomenal presence in Court as well as for his enviable cross-examination skills. Oliver has been repeatedly listed for more than 10 years in the top category of leading silks in crime in both Chambers & Partners and in Legal 500. He was nominated in the Chambers Bar Awards 2010 as Crime Silk of the Year. Recently Oliver has been engaged in representing journalists accused in the highly published and ground breaking investigation by the Police known as the ‘Operation Elveden’ in to the phone hacking scandal involving News International and The Sun newspaper and an investigation into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public official; allegations of bribery and corruption.

Oliver successfully represented News International’s Managing Editor (Graham Dudman) and Night Editor (Brandon Malinksy). In addition, Oliver successfully represented three other news editors and journalists, whose cases were discontinued.

Oliver has acted in some of the highest profile and factually complex cases with international dimensions involving allegations of serious financial crime, fraud, breach of trust and money laundering. Some of the notable highlights include being involved in a £200 million shipping fraud, large scale insurance frauds and multi-layered international money laundering conspiracies involving consideration of thousands of documents and intricate financial transactions involving off-shore trusts and corporations.

In 2008, Oliver represented Devi Schahou in the extremely high profile Goldman Sachs fraud trial.
